Album Fresh Berrys
CHESS LP-1498
Released 1966
In this R&B classic, Jordan lists women in history who have tormented men.
Looking over this pattern, he sees that this is typical behavior, and wants to warn men to watch out.
The women mentioned in the song are Eve, Delilah and Marie Antoinette.
There's also a mention of the Roman emperor Nero, who while not a woman, was gay.
Chuck Berry lifted the guitar intro (sometimes played by Jordan's band on horns) for his song "Johnny B. Goode."
On Fresh Berries the lyrics are not complete as they are shown at the right.
Jordan was a big influence on Berry, as well as B.B. King and Ray Charles, all of whom played versions of
"Just Like A Woman" in their live shows.
B.B. King would often do a long intro before playing the song, inviting men in the audience to sing along, but warning them that they might not get any "supper" if they do.
This was written by Claude Demetrius and Jordan's wife, Fleecie Moore.
The pair wrote many of Jordan's songs and also some for B.B. King.
Other artists to record this song include Fats Domino, Alice Cooper, Ronnie Hawkins and Jimmy Smith.

There was Adam
Happy as a man could be
'Til Eve got him messing
With that old apple tree
Ain't just like a woman?
Ain't just like a woman?
Ain't just like a woman?
They'll do it every time
Lot took his wife
Down to the corner for a malted
She wouldn't mind her business
Boy, did she get salted
Ain't just like a woman?
Ain't just like a woman?
Ain't just like a woman?
They'll do it every time
Samson thought Delilah
Was on the square
'Til one night
She clipped him all his hair
Ain't just like a woman?
Ain't just like a woman?
Ain't just like a woman?
They'll do it every time
From our history books
We all learned
Nero fiddled
While Rome was burned
Ain't just like a woman?
Ain't just like a woman?
Ain't just like a woman?
They'll do it every time
Marie Antoinette met
Some hungry cats at the gate
They was crying for bred
She said: "Let them eat cake"
Ain't just like a woman?
Ain't just like a woman?
Ain't just like a woman?
They'll do it every time
You can buy a woman clothes
And give her money on the side
No matter what to do
She ain't never satisfied
Ain't just like a woman?
Ain't just like a woman?
Ain't just like a woman?
They'll do it every time
